I-Joists, Metal-Web Joists and Glulam beams can all be used to create open roof voids in buildings by acting as free-spanning rafters between a ridge beam at the roof apex and the wallplate at eaves level.

The metal-Web joists can even create a complete open and vaulted ceiling without the requirement for ridge beams.  A new alternative to attic trusses.

EWP can also be used to create unusual features such as curved ceilings and exposed beams.
