At the production facility in Presteigne every measure is taken to protect the environment and eco-system. To prove this, FWL have recently gained certification for ISO14001:2004 environmental management system.
The area surrounding the production facility is landscaped with trees and shrubs to assist the eco-system. This area is carefully maintained throughout the year ensuring that is remains well stocked providing food and shelter for the wildlife.
Timber is optimised for every project ensuring best use of materials and therefore reducing waste. Off cuts of timber and sheet material that cannot be used in the production of panels are burned in two specialist incinerators which heat the production facility and have extremely low emission values.
Packaging is re-used when delivering out our timber frame kits and any metal banding is clipped and recycled. All other waste materials are taken to a recycling plant by FWL who have their own waste carriers licence to ensure that waste is disposed of in a responsible manner.
We always ensure that our vehicles leave the yard fully loaded to reduce the number of journeys made and where possible smaller vehicles are used.
